Why whistleblower protection training?

Whistleblower protection training – why raising staff awareness is crucial

The HinSchG requires companies with 50 or more employees to establish and operate internal reporting channels. But a reporting channel alone is not enough: it only works if your employees know it exists – and how to use it. Many potential whistleblowers hesitate because they are unsure: What exactly can I report? Am I protected afterwards? What happens to my report? This uncertainty leads to violations being reported too late or not at all – with potentially significant consequences for the company.

Without Proliance Academy HinSchG training:

  • Violations are reported too late or not at all – often with significant consequences
  • Employees hesitate due to uncertainty: What am I allowed to report? Am I protected afterwards?

With Proliance Academy HinSchG training:

  1. Whistleblowers act with confidence – without overreacting and without hesitation
  2. Your company actively demonstrates that compliance is a core value

Note:

Note: The legally required training for individuals who receive and process reports is conducted individually and personally by our experts as an integral part of the Proliance consulting package. The Academy's online training is independent of this and is specifically aimed at your employees as potential whistleblowers.

What your employees learn in the whistleblower protection training—and why it matters

Many employees do not know what they are allowed to do, what they are required to do—and what protects them. This is exactly where the Proliance whistleblower protection training comes in. It closes the knowledge gap between legal requirements and everyday practice: practical, easy to understand, and in under 20 minutes.

When can I—and when must I—submit a report?
Not every observation is a violation. The training clearly shows which issues are actually reportable and what requirements must be met. This allows your employees to act with confidence—without overreacting and without hesitation when it matters.
Where and how do I submit a report?
Internal reporting office, external authority, or anonymous channel—the training explains all options and their differences. Your employees will know exactly where to turn and what happens next.
What happens after I submit a report?
From the acknowledgment of receipt and the investigation to the final feedback: the entire process is made transparent. This builds trust—and increases the willingness to actually report violations.
How am I protected as a whistleblower?
Retaliation, termination, discrimination—the fear of these consequences keeps many from speaking up about misconduct. This training clearly and concretely explains the legal protections under the Whistleblower Protection Act (HinSchG), so your employees know: those who report are protected.

The result:

Employees who understand what whistleblowing means use reporting channels sooner—preventing minor infractions from turning into major damages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whistleblower protection training – FAQs

Do you have questions about the legal requirements or how our platform works? Find quick answers here.

Who is responsible for conducting data protection training?

The data controller, usually the management, is responsible for data protection training. The internal data protection officer monitors the training sessions in accordance with Article 39 Paragraph 1 lit. b GDPR and often conducts them in consultation with management. The training sessions can be held as on-site in-house training or as online training, which can be completed independently of time and location.

Which employees need to be trained in data protection?

All employees who handle personal data must be regularly trained in accordance with the GDPR. According to Art. 4 No. 2 GDPR, processing includes the collection, storage, transmission, deletion, organization, retrieval, consultation, and disclosure of personal data. This primarily affects employees in Marketing, Sales, Field Service, HR, Accounting, Finance, Customer Service, and IT.

Why is data privacy training important for employees?

The successful implementation of the GDPR hinges on the knowledge of employees. Data protection training raises awareness of risks and potential hazards, and provides practical guidance for day-to-day work. It prevents data breaches from occurring due to a lack of knowledge or inattention. Upon successful completion, employees receive certificates as documented proof of compliance with the accountability requirements under Art. 5 Para. 2 GDPR.
